Communities for Climate Action

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: COMMUNITY GREEN TEAM COMMITTEE MEMBERS


Are you passionate about environmental conservation, sustainability, and taking action against climate change? Do you want to play a crucial role in shaping the future of our community and our planet? If so, we invite you to apply for positions on the Green Team Committees for the following communities:

  • Ghanzi 

  • Goodhope

  • Medie

  • Sikwane

  • Tsabong


About the Green Team Initiative:

The Green Team Initiative is a community-driven program under the Botswana Climate Change Network (BCCN), a Non-Governmental Organisation dedicated to addressing climate change and environmental issues. The Green Team's primary objective is to lead local efforts in advocating for sustainable practices, disseminating knowledge, and implementing actions that combat climate change and promote environmental stewardship within their community.


Available Positions:

The following positions are available for each community Green Team:

  1. Chairperson: The Chairperson will provide leadership, facilitate meetings, and represent the community Green Team to external stakeholders.

  2. Secretary: The Secretary will be responsible for record-keeping, communication, and administrative tasks essential for the smooth operation of the Green Team.

  3. Treasurer: The Treasurer will manage the financial affairs of the Green Team, including budgeting, fundraising, and financial reporting.

  4. Two Additional Members: These members will actively participate in the Green Team's activities, provide valuable input, and contribute to the team's projects and initiatives.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must be a resident of the community for which they are applying. Only residents from the communities listed above will be considered

  • Passionate about environmental sustainability and addressing climate change.

  • Commitment to attending regular Green Team meetings and actively participating in its activities.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Previous experience in a similar role or involvement in community initiatives is a plus but not mandatory.


Please note that Green Team membership is voluntary and unpaid.

Interested individuals are invited to submit their applications by 29 February 2024  to admin@botswanaclimatenetwork.com  . Your application should include the following:

  1. A cover letter expressing your interest and motivation for joining your community’s Green Team

  2. A detailed resume or curriculum vitae (CV) highlighting your relevant skills and experience.

  3. Minimum qualification Junior Certificate (JC), Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) is an added advantage

  4. Specify the position you are applying for (Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, or Additional Member), as well as your community (village or town)

  5. Contact information, including your phone number and email address.


Application Deadline: 29 March 2024


Selection Process:

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis by the selection committee, and shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews. Successful candidates will be notified, and they will officially join their community’s Green Team Committee.
